A magical SuperHeroes theme, complete with Catwoman, Superman, Captain America, and WonderWoman adorned the Denver Marriott City Center as an authentic replica of the Batmobile arrested attention nearby for pictures and fantasies.
The inaugural SuperHeroes Gala benefiting the Courageous Faces Foundation had more than 400-guests and donors who arrived for the spectacular evening.
The fanfare started as guests came down the escalator to see the unique authentic 1966 Batmobile replica. Cat woman, Superman, Captain America, and Wonder Woman mingled with guests looking at SuperHero, movie-sized posters featuring all the beautiful Champions of the Foundation, who were the real celebrities of the night.
At the silent auction, board member Francis Smith, played a baby grand piano nestled among the light of glowing orbs and fabulous auction items, which included everything from elaborate travel packages to private dinner parties and sports memorabilia, while drinks and hors d’oeuvres were circulating.
The SuperHeroes theme of the evening was brilliantly extended, as guests entered the Colorado Ballroom to find sparkling sequin table linens, and candlelit floral centerpieces adoring each table. A SuperHero Cape was waiting on the back of each guest chair, as a keepsake of the incredible evening.
Cat woman, Superman, Captain America, and Wonder Woman then lined the Gothic-themed stage where a massive electronic LED screen lit up behind them. Chris Starkey, the emcee made his grand entrance with the sound of a siren filling the room right before Batman’s voice is heard asking the Champions of the Foundation for their help.
Honorees of the SuperHeroes Gala were Johnny Quinn, the Courageous Spirit Award recipient and Robert Barron, World Humanitarian Award recipient. Champions of the Foundation filled the stage in groups titled Inspiration, Nobility, Achievement, and Courage, words that truly represent their individual strengths. They shared who they are as a person, their journey and life with a rare or severe medical condition which brought standing ovations for all.
The World Classic Rockers, with former members of the iconic bands, Journey, Boston, Steppenwolf Lynyrd Skynyrd & Santana rocked the room and dance floor with hit after hit.
Champions of the Foundation joined the band on stage to sing Don’t Stop Believin’.
Finally, guests who didn’t want the night to end were invited to attend the After Party for cocktails, and conversation. The silent auction room had been transformed into a VIP lounge where the dazzling evening continued with some of the Champions and families and World Classic Rockers taking photos and chatting with guests. A once-in-a-lifetime experience surprised the guests when one of the Rockers started playing the piano creating an hour long sing-a-long.
Heartfelt thanks to our dear friend Carole, for her love and continuing, faithful support.
With gratitude also to our beautiful SuperHeroes, the Champions of the Foundation and their families, our family, friends, supporters, donors, sponsors, volunteers, staff of the Denver Marriott City Center, Jay’s Valet, and Abdi of ABC Shuttle.
